Monte Cecilia Park is a heritage estate park in Hillsborough (near Royal Oak), built around the historic Pa Homestead (now an Auckland Council art gallery and café). A wide gravel promenade loops grassed hills planted with rare exotic trees and offers views to Manukau Harbour, One Tree Hill and the Waitakere Ranges. The park includes a children's playground built in 2017, accessible toilets, mobility parking by the main car park and Pa Homestead, bike stands and an off-leash dog area in the northeastern bowl.

Monte Cecilia Park is a beautifully maintained and welcoming space for the whole community. I visited for the first time, three weeks ago during our @FreeFit_Auckland training session, and I was genuinely impressed. The park is very popular for walking, especially with dogs (on leash), and it’s easy to see why. The grounds are well cared for, peaceful, and perfect if you’re wanting a tranquil walk and some time out in nature. There are clean public toilets available, which is always appreciated. One of the highlights was seeing an Auckland Council van set up as a relaxed community space, with instruments, games, picnic blankets, and a really lovely “come and be” vibe. Such a thoughtful touch that adds to the sense of connection, mindfulness, mental wellness and wellbeing. There’s also a café/restaurant where you can grab takeaway coffee or a bite to eat, plus a gelato spot that’s clearly a favourite. After our training session, it was lovely to enjoy a little post-workout treat.☕🍨 Parking is fairly limited, so I would highly recommend arriving early. We had no trouble finding a park for our 8:30am fitness workout start, but by the time we finished, the car park was full and people were waiting for parking spots. Overall, a fantastic, free-to-visit park that’s peaceful, community-focused, and well loved. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a calm, scenic place to walk, train, or simply relax outdoors. 😌🕊️🌳🌿

Excellent and popular off-leash area for dogs. There's enough room for dogs, people and NZ flora and fauna in this wonderful park. No additional regulations are required for efficient safe use for all - there is no need to fix something that is not broken.
