Killarney Park is an Auckland Council waterfront park on the eastern shore of Lake Pupuke in Takapuna, accessed from Killarney Street, Ander Place and Manurere Avenue. The park has open green lawns, mature trees, picnic spots and a lakefront walking path used for feeding ducks and swans, watching outdoor concerts and watercraft on the lake. The Pumphouse Theatre and adjoining cafe sit on the lakefront edge, with parking off Killarney Street.

We set out for a short walk and stumbled upon a hidden gem in Takapuna — Killarney Park, nestled alongside the serene Lake Pupuke. Within its lush grounds, you’ll also find the charming Pumphouse Theatre, adding a touch of history and culture to the scenery. The park is perfect for photography, kayaking, or even a bit of paddleboarding. The views across the lake are simply breathtaking, offering a peaceful escape right in the heart of the city. With plenty of parking, shaded benches, and open spaces, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a snack, share a conversation, or have a small lakeside picnic. A tranquil retreat that’s well worth discovering.
