Karehana Park is a Porirua City Council waterfront reserve in Plimmerton between Airlie Road and Cluny Road, a stones throw from Karehana Bay. The 2015 community-led upgrade (by the Plimmerton Residents Association working with the council) added a refreshed fenced playground, scooter and bike loops for little kids, landscaped pavers, drinking fountains, picnic spots, toilets, and a petanque court. The play area is mobility accessible from both ends and well-regarded by Plimmerton families. A relaxed community park rather than a destination playground.

This park needs some real attention. It has deeply pooled dirty water in both the play areas that have been sitting and growing gunk for a while. Do not recommend until City Council clears the water problem by the play sets.

Lovely setting not too far from the beach. Great wee skate park, playground and picnic area. Recently installed water fountain close by. Dog park section also here. Boggy in winter but a good path around the perimeter. A small stream runs alongside but is not fenced off so supervision is required. Only downside is no toilets nearby.
