Joy Cowley Childrens Playground is South Wairarapa District Councils fully fenced family playground on Clifford Square in Featherston, named in 2023 after the celebrated childrens author who lived in town for 20 years (and welcomed by hundreds at the blessing). The refurbishment is themed around Cowleys books, with separate toddler and big-kid zones, a flying fox, seesaw, climbing gear, picnic tables, and a softer pour-and-play surface for improved accessibility. A great little kids bookshop sits next door. A heartfelt community-anchored stop in the Featherston Booktown precinct.
