Jellie Park is a 12.5 hectare Christchurch City Council reserve at 295 Ilam Road in Burnside, opened in 1960 on land gifted by James Jellie. The park combines a destination playground with a multi-play structure, slides, swings, seesaw, rocktopus, solo spinner, roundabout and track glyde with the Jellie Park Recreation and Sport Centre's lap and outdoor summer pools, hydroslides, kids' splash deck and diving boards. Free BBQs, picnic lawns, a basketball half court and the skate park round out a full day-out spot for families. Best treated as a destination Christchurch park, especially in summer.
