Beckenham Park is a 5 hectare Christchurch City Council sports park bordering Beckenham and St Martins, with the playground entrance off Palatine Terrace. The play space combines a multi-play structure with swings, slides, a Rocktopus rotating piece, a climbing block wall and a balance beam, surrounded by shade trees and picnic seating. Soccer fields and a cricket outfield run alongside, with public toilets and a sealed bike track on site, plus the Beckenham Ponds walk a short stroll away. Best treated as a destination southern-Christchurch family stop combining play with a sport-watch.

On the plus side, there are shaded picnic tables and mats under the swings. However the paths are gravel making scooter use a problem and the tall blue slides have warped waves. A paved pad for teaching bike riding and ball sports would be a nice addition. The ponds and forest are a fantastic area for kids to explore.

Great playground under large trees. Toilets available close by. Large grounds nearby. Climbing wall too.
