Westlake Reserve is an 11-hectare Christchurch City Council park in Halswell with a former-mine lake at its heart and walking and biking loop trails ringing the water. The reserve has multiple playgrounds aimed mainly at younger children, plus cricket, rugby and soccer fields, picnic tables, several ponds with ducks and eels, a small pier, interpretive boards on the mine history, and easy access from Westlake Drive, Wales Street, Arkwright Terrace, Chilwell Place, Brigham Drive, Marquess Avenue and Wigram Road. Well-rated as a scenic family day-out spot.
