Western Park Playground is the destination play space inside Auckland Councils Western Park in Freemans Bay, one of Aucklands oldest municipal parks (established 1871) and a short walk from Ponsonby Road. The hillside layout drops three long tunnel slides down through the trees, paired with a flying fox, in-ground trampolines, an accessible carousel, basket and bucket swings, a seesaw, and climbing ropes. Toilets, picnic tables, drinking fountains, tennis courts, and fitness gear ring the park, alongside sunken sculptures that nod to historic Auckland buildings. Consistently well-regarded as a destination Auckland playground for older kids.
