Waikōwhai Park is an Auckland Council coastal reserve at Hillsborough, descending through native bush to the Manukau Harbour. The upgraded playground centres on a multi-level Octagonal Tower linked to an adjoining tree-house structure, accessed by ladders, climbing nets and a climbing wall, with a long metal slide (long famous locally), a curvy tube slide and a wave slide off the top. Alongside it sit a 3.2m timber seesaw, a two-bay swing set with toddler seat, plus a flying fox; natural timber and rope finishes blend the play space into the surrounding bush. The park also offers picnic lawns, accessible toilets across the road and parking, and connects into the Waikōwhai Walkway along the harbour cliffs.

This place is a gem. Beautiful parkland, native bush walks and views south over the Manukau Harbour. Perfect for a picnic there's plenty of seating, a great playground. It could get a bit chilly if there's a southerly blowing so plan accordingly.

Beautiful place with tables and benches under the shadows of wonderful Pohutukawa trees. Plenty of parking spots and a great view to the sea. We wouldn't recommend this beach for a swim cause it seems very shallow
