Tokoroa War Memorial Sports Ground is the South Waikato District Council’s main sports complex, opened on 17 October 1953 by Major General Sir Howard Kippenberger as the town’s WWII memorial. Today the precinct holds 13 playing fields (eight floodlit), four synthetic netball/tennis courts plus four asphalt courts, and the South Waikato Sport and Events Centre — hosting rugby, league, touch, soccer, netball, tennis and dog-agility shows. The memorial gates carry three dedication tablets; toilets, parking and a small playground for visiting families sit alongside.
