Spencer Park is a Christchurch City Council coastal park about 14km north-east of the city, on Heyders Road in Brooklands. The large adventure playground packs in climbing ropes, flying foxes, swings (including a wheelchair swing), a sand pit with digger and dizzying swivel chair, plus a paddling pool for warmer days. The wider park offers a small animal enclosure, wetland and bird-watching walks beside Brooklands Lagoon, sheltered picnic areas and a 500m walk to Spencer Beach.

The Flying Foxes still look great! But the rest of the adventure playground is very overgrown and falling foul of bad drainage and low upkeep. Really disappointing to see the state of the wheelchair accessible swing… Definitely hold off until it’s been a few weeks of good weather before attending!
