Smallbone Park is Rotorua's long-standing multi-sport ground on Devon Street West in Hillcrest, home to the Rotorua Cricket Association since the late 1930s and to artificial hockey turfs leased by the local Hockey Association. The neighbourhood playground sits beside the sports area with swings, slide, picnic seating and shade alongside a skatepark and on-site parking and toilets; the 1968 Jubilee Pavilion and Friends of Smallbone Park volunteer group give it a strong community feel. It is a well-used local sports-and-play hub rather than a destination playground.

Beautiful area with potential to be an even more tranquil n special place once the felled trees are tidied up, n more trees are planted specifically for birds n green space for all to enjoy around the sports facilities. Nice to see many people enjoying the different spaces for a range of reasons. Needs to be kept natural to enhance the attraction of the area for all, without it feeling busy or commercial.
