Paerata Playground and Splashpad is the destination community playground at the Paerata Rise development off Jonah Lomu Drive south of Auckland, opened in August 2021 next to the on-site cafe. The hero piece is a tiered water-play splash pad that is widely cited as the local favourite, with a slide tower and multi-level all-abilities activity zones rounding out the design. The all-ages, all-abilities focus means it suits both toddlers and older kids comfortably. Best treated as a summer day destination combined with the cafe stop.

The playground is awesome. However, because it's next to a cafe that lacks some basic serving skills, I gave it a 4. I don't think they appreciate what they have. Next time, I'll bring my own coffee and food.

Great playground and water area. The water area could do with a bit of a clean and the drain at the bottom was quite smelly. But the kids had lots of fun!
