Kauri Heart Park is an Auckland Council neighbourhood park on the corner of Kauri Heart Avenue and Hopuni Way in Takanini, opened May 2022 as the playful heart of a new south Auckland housing development. Co-designed with Te Akitai Waiohua and Waahi Wairua, the playground centres on the Kompan Butterfly climbing rope and steel frame with sensory features, a custom Platinum Play tower with accessible stairs and a 2m tube slide, a Wehopper spinning rocker, and 3m swings including a basket and Duo Swing. Pavilion-shaded picnic tables make it a comfortable summer or rainy-day stop. Well-regarded across south Auckland as a destination community park rather than a quick local play.
