Green Island Memorial Park is a Dunedin City Council memorial garden on Main South Road in Green Island, used as a picnic area with BBQ, a stage for community events and an accessible playground built by the Greater Green Island Community Network. The train-themed play space targets 0 to 6 year olds with an inclusive carousel, basket swing, frisbee swing, human-sized mouse wheel and a wheelchair, walker and pram accessible roundabout, all on softfall surfacing. The fenced playground sits alongside the garden, making it a comfortable family stop combining play, picnic and memorial gardens. Best for younger families.

Dunedin lacks great playgrounds. This one was the best we found with 1 picnic table in the shade within the gated area. And another picnic table is next to it, next to a BBQ. The playground is well maintained and it even entertained my 8 and 11 year old. I didn't see toilets though.
One of the best in Dunedin, aimed at solidly younger kids with new equipment. There is also a picnic table under a shade sale which is a bonus. Nice shady trees for picnics etc
