Derek Heather Park is a Hamilton City Council reserve on Grandview Road in Western Heights near Dinsdale, named after former doctor and city councillor Derek Heather. The playground has timber climbing and balance equipment, a spinner, swings and a slide, alongside a basketball half-court, two sports fields used for club and casual games, plus walkways and bike paths, changing rooms, picnic tables, shade and parking; a relaxed local family-and-sports stop.

This park looks like it should be lovely to walk around, and through, but it does not have sufficient drainage. Wear your gumboots if you walk up to 3 days after rain, or almost every day in winter! At times you can see the water draining across the footpath to the road. Come on HCC - this park needs serious remedial work!

Someone has put a basket of balls at the court. We took 6 kids today and we had a blast. Thanks for the basket of balls. Awesome.
