Cockle Bay Reserve is a coastal Howick reserve at 47R Shelly Beach Parade in Auckland’s East, with beach access onto the Hauraki Gulf, boat ramps and a refurbished cockle-shell-themed playground designed for younger children. Howick Local Board’s $240,000 2024 upgrade added new baby and other swings, a seesaw, monkey bars, balance beams, timber stilts, mini slides, tunnels and a natural play area with tree and stepping logs, with picnic tables, seating and a carpark. Gates open 6am–9pm in summer and 6am–7pm in winter.
