Understand it is a flood plain but surely it can have some specimen trees such as kowhai, Kahikatea, pukatea, puriri, taraire, kohekoh, totara, pohutakawa etc. Especially around the edges where the flood plan would not be compromised at all. Combine this with a walking and cycling track underneath that has shade and does not need to be mown. Good for people and biodiversity. Could create a great space for the likes of frisbee golf etc and more use.
