Jaycee Park is the central Kaitaia township park, also known as Centennial Park, on South Road opposite Te Ahu and one of the Far North's busiest playgrounds. The revamped under-fives play space leads with a boat-shaped climbing platform of multi-level decks, steering wheels, telescopes, slides and a crawl tunnel, the nautical theme nodding to the boats that used to come up the river. Funded by Te Hiku Community Board with input from the Friends of Jaycee Park, the playground sits alongside the Jaycee Skatepark and is planned to anchor a future destination park linking Te Ahu Centre with Te Hiku Sports Hub. Best treated as the town's family hub.

I visited the Christmas market at Jaycee Park Playground yesterday and it was really nice. There were lots of stalls selling different things, and many people came out to enjoy the market. Parking was easy with plenty of space, so it felt very relaxed. A great place to hang out, have a walk, and enjoy the chill atmosphere.
